Shaghayegh Ghandehari, literary critic and translator, was born in 1977 in Tehran. She believes that the translation of “The Cuckoo Sister” by Vivien Alcock when she was 12 was a turning point in her life and encouraged her to focus on this field and therefore study “English Literature” in university as well. She managed her time between studying at university and working as a journalist, translator and book critic for many years. After a couple of years she decided to devote most of her time to book translation.
She has translated over 75 books for children, young adults and adults; mostly in the field of fiction and literature. She has received a number of literary prizes from different book festivals for her translations. Since a few years ago she has made an attempt to introduce Iranian literature to the world and in this line has translated a few titles.
